On Friday, Mar 20th over 120 spouses, mom's, dad's, brothers, sisters and friends of 3d AA Bn Marines spent a day in the life of their Marines at our First Annual Jane/John Wayne Day. The family members boarded Amtracks, splashed the Pacific Ocean, assaulted Red Beach, rode a 7-ton to range 407 and fired small arms weapons, then returned to Del Mar beach for a BBQ with their Marine.

The USAA Pendleton Cup series got off to a smashing start Jan. 27 when Marines and sailors gathered at the Paige Fieldhouse for the All-Base Racquetball Challenge. In all, 20 players were on hand competing in three divisions. When it was finished, 1st Supply Battalion’s Rod Sharrar (open division), 3D Amphibious Assault Battalion’s Ryan Reschke (novice division), and Field Medical Battalion’s Angela Markey (women’s division), took first-place honors in their respective brackets.

The Gator Chaps Café is now in full operation on the Ramp. The café provides a opportunity for the Chaplains to be right where the Marines work and also allows the Marines to speak with a Chaplain if they need to without going all the way to Battalion Spaces. Free Starbucks and Peet’s coffee always provides a good draw. Don’t forget to stop by for a cup a joe!!

Third Amphibious Assault Battalion’s new starting quarterback Joey Pass isn’t asking for a break, just a few more practice sessions. It’s a reasonable request, considering the southpaw only had three days to prepare for the biggest game of the Pendleton Cup Football League’s regular season.
